From Fort Collins take the 14 west to Ted's Place
and Cache la Poudre, from here you begine on of
the best scenic highway's in the area. following the
river through a cut gorge along the road in the heart of the Roosevelt
National Forest. Tight twisties and and steep cliff walls keep you foc...
A wickedly twisty 20 mile
section of curves leading down to the
lake at Nederland. Try not to get distracted by the climbers on the steep granite faces!
The Berthoud pass offers a frenzied
connection of very tight bends through
the very scenically interesting forest.
One of Colorado's most demanding motorcycling roads
Surface a bit patchy in places and can have bad weather here, but the trail ridge road is (so I'm told) the highest paved pass in the USA. Very nice experience riding this road
Beautiful flowing road with lots to see through this historical mining area, cave like tunnels are fun.
Can be quite popular with tourists but still very nice.
Amazing road, one of the highest and most scenic around.
Hairpin turns, amazing views and cliff walls but there
can be a lot of tourist traffic
so best taken at a quiet time if possible.
Start at Hwy 93 and Coal Creek canyon road. Head up Coal Creek canyon on smooth twisties to Wonderview then continue to Hwy 119 (peak to peak Hwy). Turn south for approximately 5 miles then east on Golden Gate Canyon Rd. Head down canyon back to Hwy 93. Watch for gravel on road in the spring.
This is one of the lesser traveled routes up to Nederland and one of the best. I like riding this one up and then come down Golden Gate Canyon Rd with a coffee and sweet roll in between. Some great vistas, good variety of terrain and curves. Road is generally in good to excellent condition and th...
If you find your self on 119 this is must to run up and down. Great road surface, and tons of tight corners. Not much traffic but look out for hidden driveways.
The Buckhorn Road section was completely re-done after flooding and the asphalt on the new section is perfect. While they did iron out some of the curves there are still some nice tight curves, stable radius. Over Rist Canyon is also nice, scenic, with a great view at the top. Favorite local ride fo...
Leave from Grand Junction on Highway 50 before turning right on Colorado Highway 141. This road will take you through the spectacular red rock scenery of the Unaweep Canyon. A truly memorable experience.
The road through the Colorado National Monument is south and west of I-70,
with entrances near Grand Junction and Fruita, and appears as a
very faint curvy line at the left edge of the map image. This
is twisty two-lane desert mountain road overlooking deep red
rock canyons with extraordinar...
Jeep trial, dual sport motorcycle roads to the top of the San Juan Mountains, in Colorados beautiful Rockies. Spectacular scenery, 12,800 at the top of Engineer Pass and ends just south of Ouray, called the Little Switzerland of the USA. A tough road, tough on the rider but worth every bump.
Spectacular scenery and rock formations and wonderful deserted motorcycle roads.
A 240 mile tour through some of the best roads in Colorado.
Starting on State Route 141 heading north from Nucla, this amazing mountain road rivals any of the great roads in the US but is much less known and much less...
This is a day-trip loop that can be ridden either direction east from Grand Junction via I-70 or south out of Grand Junction via US 50. The sweet part of the ride is Colorado State Highway 65 (the Grand Mesa National Scenic Byway) between Mesa on the north and Cedaredge on the south side of the Gra...
Take I-70 exit 62 south. Accesses (see) Grand Mesa Byway Loop at Colorado State Highway 65 (southbound) or Plateau Creek Canyon ride back to I-70 exit 49 (northbound). A few very tight corners. CAUTION: NO GAS AVAILABLE IN THE TOWN OF MESA.
Steep, blind and dark in places thanks to the canyon, this spectacular road is not for the faint hearted. 20% descent in places with sheer walls and switchbacks, what a road!
CO 318 NW Colorado CO - Mesa/Delta/Montrose/..., United States November 29, 2014 - 4.0
This route needs a little explanation.
First, I wish there was some rating between "pleasant" and spectacular
because this route is much, much more than "pleasant."
There's another caveat; at the CO/UT border 318 enters Utah
and turns into a hard packed gravel/dirt road until it Ts into H...
Independence Pass. Elevation of 3686 m./12,095 ft. Can still be closed early spring or fall. Narrow lanes. No long vehicles permitted. Great experience. Do it!
Frying Pan Road from Basalt, Co, east to the eastern end of the Ruedi reservoir, a small village called Meredith. You will encounter many 25-35 mph marked corners with good asphalt. Watch for gravel in some corners. Once reaching Meredith, turn around and go back to Basalt, unless you have a very...
Sharp dropsand a couple of slow tight corners along an 800ft high ridge.
Drop offs are dramatic, sometimes on both sides, no oncoming traffic thanks
to it being one way. Good fun.
Steeped in history, this scenic road cut from the hillside is surrounded by lush forest. Excellent riding but be on the lookout for some falling rocks.
This is one of my favorite loops out of Woodland Park. The route takes you through route nine and someone of most scenic areas of Colorado. Lots of long stretches with hills that go up and down and some nice curves here and there. Once you get to Highway 50 you can also make a quick stop at the Roya...
Shelf Road CO - Pitkin/Lake/Park/Gun..., United States November 14, 2014 - 4.0
First Found this Road in the Summer of 1980 thanks to a Gas Station Guy in Canon City sending me and my buddy to Cripple Creek ... I am sure he was messing with us hicks from Ohio, but we loved it and stayed for a couple of days....
Runs between mountains on each shoulder, including some scenic passes. Bottom half is along a river for a bit emptying into a lake midway through, is a pretty good place to stop.
Here is a very nice road that follows right beside the Colorado River. Great scenery, almost deserted. Nice ups and downs and curves.
It is hard pack gravel that any bike can go down at any speed you want. I have done it on a sportbike and its like driving on pavement. Long as its not wet I ...
Spectacular high vistas and some gravel the closer you get to the reservoir, this seasonally closed road known locally as the Cottonwood Pass is fun so long as it's not been raining (then it can be muddy), very nice and scenic in any case.
4 miles of hard surface with gravel starting at 15.8 miles. Don't speed on 285. See elk heard and buffalo at upper Turkey Creek before the round about.
Canyon ride from Salida to Cotapaxi then climb a mountain road to Westcliff Colorado. Twisting winding ride through the canyon on Rte 50 then turn right on 1A in Cotapaxi, continue into the hills and turn right at Rte 69. Finish in Westcliff with shoppes, cafes, taverns. Return to Salida.
